Why Try 3Chi Delta 8 THCv Gummies?

Many people struggle with the pharmaceutical regimen for their particular afflictions and medical conditions, and frequently resort to various forms of alternative medicine. When that choice leads them to cannabis, the options have been limited to Delta-9 THC, with its psychoactive properties, or CBD. For many, relief was found using one, or both, as medicine. However, in the last few years, the development of Delta 8 and THCv products have advanced, with the cost of extraction from Industrial Hemp reaching a reasonable consumer price. So, we now have yet one more option to consider. Similar to Delta 9 THC, Delta 8 THC also binds to the endocannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptors, which is the system responsible for maintaining homeostasis in our body (i.e., a balanced, healthy and properly functioning body). So, the Delta 8/THCv combination offers the same potential therapeutic benefits as Delta 9 THC, but with virtually no side-effects and a lower psychotropic potency (i.e., less association with a stoned feeling). So, many people that can’t tolerate THC, or haven’t found relief with CBD, have reported anecdotal results that supports Delta 8 and THCv as an option for them.

What Is THCv?

THCv (tetrahydrocannabivarin) is one of the ~100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, generally in the Sativa strains. It’s one of the cannabinoids that can be psychoactive (i.e., a little stony experience) to some, but generally only in higher concentrations. Although extensive research is still in progress, anecdotal evidence suggests that THCv can be helpful improving motivation, alertness, and producing a euphoric, energized feeling.

Dosing

It’s strongly recommended to start with 1/2 gummy to experience how digested Delta 8/THCv affects you. Since each person’s metabolism is different, some may find that a low dose will be more than enough to have achieve the desired result, while others may need a full gummy. Another factor to consider is the amount of time required for the gummy to be digested, which varies from person-to-person. For best results, consume the dose before eating, or eat the gummy with food, to facilitate the highest rate of absorption into your system. Until you understand how these gummies affect you, it’s best to wait at least 1-2 hours for effects to take place, before deciding to consume more, since a common issue is overdosing due to the delayed effects when consuming edibles.

Storage

Delta 8/THCv gummies don’t always do well in hot climates. If possible, it’s recommended to store the gummies in the refrigerator after opening. Do not store above room temperature or in a humid environment. If your gummies have melted into a (delicious) singular gummy blob, a quick remedy is to place them in the freezer for up to 1 hour. Once frozen, open the bag at the sides and cut into equal pieces. Precise dosing requires a gram scale.

2018 Farm Bill

How does the 2018 Farm Bill define hemp? What does it mean for FDA-regulated products?

At the federal level, the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, Pub. L. 115-334, (the 2018 Farm Bill) was signed into law on Dec. 20, 2018. Among other things, this new law changes certain federal authorities relating to the production and marketing of hemp, defined as “the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.” These changes include removing hemp from the CSA, which means that cannabis plants and derivatives that contain no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis are no longer controlled substances under federal law.

The 2018 Farm Bill, however, explicitly preserved FDA’s authority to regulate products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds under the FDC Act and section 351 of the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act). FDA treats products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds as it does any other FDA-regulated products — meaning they’re subject to the same authorities and requirements as FDA-regulated products containing any other substance. This is true regardless of whether the cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds are classified as hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill.
